this is why nobody ever takes white hip-hop fans seriously

  • If you don’t see the greatness of a rapper from Memphis who came up from nothing having a dance blow up locally then spread throughout mainstream America and then on to a kids video game.... That’s 100 times more impressive than some white girls dances cause who the f*** would’ve thought someone in his situation would blow up to that point. You never would’ve thought his dance would reach that level of importance. But we got white boys on ktt discrediting a black mans success. Had to compare it to a white girl.

He had a whole era where niggas was rapping over SFTB remakes, 40 sound is low-key responsible for the whole atmospheric d***ged out trap sound that's been super popular for a minute

  • Nov 19, 2019

“He really wanted to incorporate my sound, which was inspired by his sound. It’s not like, ‘Oh, I had the "new sound.”’ It was just easier for him to relate to me, because it was his sound with an edge. It was that Toronto sound." -The Weeknd

So this is proof The Weeknd used drakes sound but just modified it a bit.

Drake's biggest influence was honestly his "underwater" production preference. Couldn't have White Iverson or Too Young without it, and those singles launched a career comparable to his own in Posty.

Even if that cornball pretends Cobain and Johnny Cash were his influences.
