21 has been mid for a long long time. His trajectory into pop star has been kinda cringe to me idk why. A bunch of kids thinking they’re hard cause they listens to him

I'm so sad what happened to him

He used to make s*** like this

Yeah Kodak should be releasing more too but I definitely like his early-middle era the most. Calling my spirits is a god tier track at least

“Drake is no different than Future”

Yall gotta stop with this bullshit man lol. Seen a few niggas break it down perfectly in a thread yesterday. Imma post em here

All of this is facts, but this still doesn’t answer the question on how Drake can be viewed as pop and Future isn’t.

Drake has topics that he talks about the same way Future does. Both rap, both sing, both make music for the charts and the clubs and the radio. Both have songs catering to women and both have songs catering to men. Both drop project after project in attempts to maintain relevance in the audience’s ear.

Future is my third favorite rapper of all time but we’re not about to sit here and act like he’s some socially conscious artist that can’t possibly be classified as pop. Him and Drake are extremely similar artists (especially post-2015), so there’s no reason why Drake is pop and Future isn’t

Kendrick's albums are very formulaic too imo

I don't think change the main theme of the album is "something new"

    I mean I enjoy them a bunch

But to say DAMN and Morale are not in his same style is cope

Kendrick has a formula that works for him and his fanbase

They’re really not. Morale’s production is a lot more orchestral and theatrical than DAMN.’s

Yeah they are, and in a way, it’s a part of his charm since the TDE days. TDE used to have an album formula that their fans would be familiar with. Conscious songs, hard songs, possee cuts, with call backs to previous songs.

In all honesty I’m failing to think of an artist that doesn’t have a formula because the harsh truth is all music is formulaic and just math really

    AI will prove that

This is such a sad way of looking at music. All music is not formulaic

Don't see how that doesn't make them formulaic

Story telling albums with poppier tracks thrown in

Different style of beats doesn't mean its a change in the formula (I don't even really agree they are that different)

That’s quite literally what it means. Music is an auditory experience.

A “formula” in music can be applied to someone like Lil Baby.

GKMC, TPAB, DAMN., and Morale are all completely different albums

    Eh disagree but okay

A formula doesn't produce the same results all the time

I don't see it has a bad thing, so there is really no reason to see it as a dig

    The same thing Lebron did

  • Jan 18, 2024

If Drake had no annoying fans he would probably only cross my mind when he had a new project out. His new music is just kinda whatever and yeah he is petty and weird sometimes but so are a lot of artists.

His stans refusing to leave well enough alone are 99% of what makes Drake discourse miserable. It's up there with arguing about religion. Honestly, there is very little difference in this case.

Nicki and Taylor stans are still worse though, somehow.

bro futures first hit song was him singing about looking for a woman in the club tf is different

his first hit was racks w/ yc

then he spun back w/ Tony Montana

but Future is a very emotionally deep artist, not invalidating your point

Hurt You off HNDRXX is one of his best songs to me
