The actual answer to your question tho is that he made himself the poster child of treating the rap game as a true sport / he made it so that accolades and playing the rap “game” more important than a lot of the fundamental s*** we required from rappers up until him. Wayne’s ethos were about being the best (even if it was being the best at p**** skate s*** money bars) and Drake’s were about having the best executed career even if that meant your music got repetitive and predictable after 2016

I appreciate the peaks of his run tho and from 09-15 we never saw a run like that and probably never will again. Meek beef ruined whoever that guy was but he’s still appreciated beyond the jokes

Taylor Swift and Drake stans really helped turn music discussions into a numbers obsessed d***eating competition in which critiques and discourse no longer hold any merit unless the numbers "back it up."

There's no point in critiquing any of their music now because Papi's angels and Swifties will point to Billboard and Spotify to shut down any discourse.

But what's funny is that the same courtesy isn't extended to other artists.

Remember that racist Filipino guy who was a Swiftie and claimed that Kendrick and Frank Ocean's music was trash because it didn't sell as much as 1989?

That’s not even counting all the black hippy s*** and endless features he was doing for Jay Rock. That nigga didn’t start rapping on different type of beats until Kendrick Lamar EP, by then he had already released like 150+ songs
