it's funny how rock and its sub-genres variants has been so mixed with hip-hop in recent years but at same time rappers that keep acting and calling themselves "rockstars" always praises white rock bands/artists smh

where's Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Funkadelic praise by modern black artists?

Prince & Funkadelic arent considered "Rock" to most people - its pop/rnb & Funk to most

Jimi is loved hell of even by Rappers & is T shirted and postered to hell like Bob Marley

People do love Prince hell of

Funadelic is one of the stepping stones for Rap & especially West Coast - while some artists like Kendrick & Snoop have literally featured them

Some rappers have mentioned the likes of BB King n Sly Stone as well

    But overall yeah i agree

Truth is the best rock comes from emotionally damaged or troubled people, so generally white people

  • Part of that is the whitewashing of rock and the ppl not knowing the history and niggas started all this s***.

Yasiin bey one of the few that gave love to bad brains and fishbone.

If you consider s*** like The Ojs etc. as " "Rock" " too they are also mentioned.

I just think a lot of Black bands arent what people consider "straight up Rock" or the stereoetype nowadays.

But they are an influence - just might not be listed as a " "Rock" " influence.

A lot of it is more considered their other influences to people nowadays. Such as Jazz, Funk, Blues, RnB & Pop. Yeah theyre a band and technically Rock as well but its that a lot of people dont think of them as " "Rock" " today minus a few.

Regardless tho of genre semantics some Rappers newer and especially older do list them as influences tho.

It’s just objectively true, this is not to say there are not some great black rock groups and artists

And of course they invented rock too

It's crazy how most of niggas that "listen to rock sometimes" don't fw or don't know Jimi Hendrix, for example.
Jimi Hendrix literally birthed the rockstar image and the modern rock, including the sub-genres

I've seen more praise for him amongst white people than black people lol

Most of these rappers are drawing inspiration from metal and punk specifically. There aren’t really many prominent black bands in that sub genre for them to name
