Honestly they didn’t matter in the culture until Kanye

They had a few cool performances every year but I feel like Kanye was the first artist that effortlessly got Grammys and subconsciously made us feel like that was a rap standard because he was making the best mainstream rap albums and sweeping the Grammys

Honestly I wish there was more of a rap performance presence, I always remember the stretch of years where it was Kanye Daft Punk medley, Swagger Like Us performance and Drake first time there. But they had Carti and Travis there last night and I felt nothing lol I’m also not 13 anymore

Sales + quality should have an equal amount of importance

There's also zero consistency in which of these hold more value. I cannot buy Taylor Swift and Killer Mike winning in the same year for example.

i want the Grammys to be something the audience can simply enjoy, as intended. anything that needs to happen behind the scenes should be determined by the organizers and the artists whom it affects.

Figured it out a year ago but the AOTY winner boils down to - and has always boiled down to if you go back - what nominee is felt to be more four-quadrant appealing or artful amongst the American public than the other nominees are either?
