What is the government like? What do our homes look like? What jobs do people work? What systems keep balance in place? Where do you get food and what can you eat? I cant really grasp it

The way I look at it, is socialism is a 'post-capitalistic' pathway to communism (i.e. a better society where we hold each other accountable and no one is hungry uneducated or subject to poverty, its a (commun)ity instead of everyone isolated and divided by class and all those other lines

The main thing ppl bring up is socialism/communism failed under authoritarian regimes and there are a few issues with this take:

One being that the US, in their extreme hatred of any ideology other than theirs, staged coups and funded wars and assassinations against socialist leaders and that type of s***

The ideas themselves are not that complicated and are actually more democratic, than current society under capitalism at least in the US, the worker has more say in the workplace, we move toward greater equality, from such inequality that it seems immovable.

"From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs" type s***

People still work jobs, it's just less focused on creating value for shareholders and instead more to benefit the community keep it running etc...

like your value u create at your job is still close to home and not just lining CEO's / owners pockets when you're the one actually keeping the thing afloat

  • Dec 7, 2020

homes wouldn't be in too much excess but ideally everyone would have housing provided to them as it ought to be a human right just like food/water/education/healthcare/ and other necessities

  • Dec 7, 2020

ideally to preserve human life we'd have to be less destructive to the environment and also the people who live in the place when thinking of building homes/housing.

No tearing down the forest just because you wanna up your little percentages to feel more powerful, but actually recognize we're all on this planet together, and f***ing up the environment is making it less safe for future generations and people already here, for what... greed? non-necessary s***

Instead of hoping that politicians vote to hold abusers of power accountable, we would be able to do so,

A lot of things need to change and happen in a socialist/post-capitalist society to move us to where communism could truly be realized from how i see it. There are a lot of transitions that need to be made economically, resource delegation, etc, especially with such a huge divide in wealth

I'm just very skeptical of anyone questioning how very specific systems are going to work. Like, there's no blueprint so asking ppl to provide one is not how to go about grasping it imo

u could always plant some seeds though

but yeah one wouldn't understand something like that by asking those questions, theres much more context around it that'd be useful

tbh though I'd say many people haven't had someone speak honestly to them about socialism/communism or its just been smeared for decades to where

A lot of people just wanna bait though and I've seen ppl try that with u so i see where u coming from

That'd be interesting to pair with the streaming era because there is that battle by companies to acquire the certain distributors and all the tech monopolies happening...

Before communism like in some form of socialism I can see all types of unions allowed to protect the workers in these industries,

but that's hard to say without being there

content distribution within communism is actually thought provoking to think about,

however since entertainment as we know it now in excess isn't an absolute necessity like food, energy, transportation, etc, it may not fall under the same rules as some of these industries

    Hypothetically speaking, of course:

Everyone would be fed and have a roof over their head but the ability to do fun things and make money off them would be pretty much gone (sports, music, entertainment in general, etc..)

That is if we’re talking about a fully communist society with the least amount of hierarchies possible

We wouldn’t see it prosper in our life times (nor do I even think people would have the chance to try it) but eventually we could probably get to a place where it’s more feasible once technology has pretty much replaced the entire working class.

There will be stern plays about loss and hardship and there will be droning techno music.
