I listen to a lot of different genres but whenever I’m in a serious mood... like sad, depressed, happy, angry, anxious etc. Hip Hop seems to always have a song or a vibe to help you get through it or to make you want to dance and party. It’s probably the most well round genre imo.

Does anybody any bands or different genres that they turn to as their go to ??

Edit: reminder that Wayne is the greatest rapper ever.

    R&B

Would consider the new wave of R&B and sub-sect or more closely related to hip hop than older R&B artists ?

For me I group them together for the most part.

You can't go wrong with either but I think it's definitely more related to Hip-Hop

I think it only really applies to new R&B acts though. They go hand in hand but sometimes I think they were grouped together because they are considered “urban” ... I never liked that work when describing music.

I feel that same but time and time again I always find myself drawn back to hip hop. You don’t have one genre that is your absolute go to.

I'd agree that it would be for the newer artists.. like Summer Walker. She works with a trap producer (London) so she definitely leans more toward the Hip-Hop side of the R&B spectrum

I don't think there is a genre but music that means to be cathartic uplifts me by showing that there are other people that are dealing with the problems I have too

many have, but if i had to choose one genre it would be hip-hop, considering it ranges from everything from Ye to kendrick to thug to NERD to Common to beastie boys to linkin park in a way to uzi and carti etc

of course all genres have nuance inside of them, but hip-hop has left me in wonder so many times at the hands of so many different people and styles
