Beyonce went from superstar to flopstar. Her hardcore fanbase inflates her musical presence. She had to create a fake bullshit cheating story with Jay Z just to sell 600k first week. In perspective, that's what Drake did with a mixtape back in 2015. She's basically the Kim Kardashian of the music industry. Beyonce and Jay have managed to keep their relevance afloat by leeching off black culture by pandering. Literally everything she does has something to do with race. I don't think it's out of genuine intentions at all.

    1. Self-titled sold 600k with no promo/drama at all
    2. In perspective, mixtape or not, Drake was influenced by her surprise drop method and sold less than self-titled and Lemonade
    3. Not even addressing the KK comparison... you need help.
    4. Are they pandering and leeching or are they Black?

Feel like you just saying s*** just to say it.

Going to ask you a serious question. If the artist is happy with the work, what does it matter if they aren't received well?

Especially if the artist is extremely successful in their career. Why would it matter if the public said "I'm not feeling your last few record's"

I guess what I'm getting at Is, where the f did you get this notion this is what matters art & music? Who taught you that? Do you read billboard as a bible? What forged you into this person is what I'm getting at.

You want to know something, most of this s*** is fake. The accolades, the acclaim, it's all fake. And here's another thing, you know most of these people who are critiquing artist's they don't even listen to their music. It's just a click bait factory.

Maybe that will give you something to ponder.

I agree with everything you said, but Beyonce is a pop artist. You don't she wanted these projects to hit the same way Lemonade did? She's hardly some avant garde indie act who doesn't care about sales.

But yes, only the music matters, and I haven't been big on any of her music since Lemonade.

Nothing's happened to B lol. She just hasn't been playing the commercial game with music anymore. She's not putting out music for chart positions and numbers, she just dropping her passion projects off. When she really ready to drop, I'm sure all of us who have taste and respect for themselves will be ready to listen.

The project is based of the Lion King, so yeah, saying it's a coincidence isn't a stretch by any means lol.

    1. We're talking about Lemonade and after.
    2. IWhether Drake was inspired or not is irrelevant. Drake selling less than Beyonce was expected back then because she's a pop star and Drake was around in the industry for less time than her.
    4. They're pandering and leeching.

    1. You said she had to fake the cheating scandal to sell 600k, when she didn't have to, she was already selling 600k with self-titled. Not denying that the added drama didn't provide a boost in sales for Lemonade, but it clearly wasn't something she needed.
    2. OK then why bring up Drake in the first place? It's not a lot of artists selling upwards of 500k, so both are in rare company.
    3. It's not. The f*** does that even mean?
    4. Embracing their Blackness, and their success as Black people/creatives is pandering? Leech off who? Everyone in the industry respects and/or looks up to both, they themselves have nothing to lose or gain by doing collabs with anyone.

    1. The cheating scandal did help, it certainly didn't hurt her sales. Her self titled sold in the low 600ks, Lemonade also sold around 600. Do the math, without the cheating scandal narrative to garner interest, it sells less.
    2. Drake was only one example of many that I could provide to show that Beyonce is falling off.

    4. They're not "embracing" blackness. That's complete f***ing bullshit and it's sad that people even believe that. Beyonce and Jay Z constantly thrust black excellence and try their hardest to appear pro black to pander to their dedicated fanbase: African Americans. They're capitalizing off of the social and racial climate in America today. They know that appealing to African Americans, their dedicated fanbase, will keep them relevant.

Bey and Jay don't actually do anything to help black communities. They do more to appear pro black than actually help them.

    1. Lemonade's 653k - Self-titled's 617k = Wow! a 36k increase! that cheating s*** really do be moving the needle. Can't wait for Culture 3

    2. Her impact is solidified, she can never fall off. You brought up Drake and said she had to stir up drama to even sniff the numbers of his tape (which is false), but when I mention that she still outsold him with that album and self-titled and influenced his rollout, it's irrelevant?

No matter who you bring up, my point still stands. Selling 500k+ is not an easy task, her and Drake are one of FEW who can do that and do it more than once in music's current landscape.

    3. I see you didn't care to explain that dumbass take.

    4. But I mean... they're Black? Wouldn't it make sense for any Black artist to want Black people to support them? I don't see it as pandering or even embracing, they are what they are, and what they are is the standard.

Fast-forward 20 years and both have influenced the next in music in their respective genres, promoted Black entrepreneurship, business structure, donated & provided relief funding for Black communities, and used their status to speak out against racial injustices. You mean to tell me it's bullshit because they're doing this as matured adults who have gained respect and recognition throughout the world? Times change. People grow up. You think Beyonce was thinking about Black empowerment in Destiny's Child? You think Jay was when he was making H to the Izzo? Let's be serious here.

I mean she’s busy counting her #1 hits spanning 21 years. She has nothing left to prove at this point in her career.

Black is King is a flop by what metric? It wasn’t my cup of tea, but to call it a flop...
