Monster Freestyle, The Heart Pt. 2, The City, HiiPoWeR, Ronald Reagan Era. All came out in a relatively short time and built Kendrick as a leading figure in hip hop.
That and the interscope machine lol 😂 and the fact that he was groomed and handed everything every step of the way once he got in lol. Hence why he really isnt even poppin or respected like that, like drake for example. J cole is more interesting than k dot because he has a human side. You’re totally missing the point. You’re highlighting the similarities between Kendrick and Kanye, when it’s the differences that matter. Kanye West has basically made a career out of being contested by the mainstream media and establishment thought, to the point of becoming almost a caricature of himself. Kendrick Lamar is marketed because he is a very safe, very middle of the road, very moderate and watered down version of artists like Mos Def who experienced a lot of censorship and difficulty in his career for being who he was, not being a persona like Kendrick Lamar. Again, try listening to Mos Def, Public Enemy, Scarface, etc. GKMC is overhyped garbage that manifested itself into the hands of the think tank of the recording industry and was in turn further manipulated and confused and served back to the intelligentsia, like yourself, to be consumed and satiate their curiosity to hear the ideas of a highly creative and marginalized individual.
