The best headphones ever!
Will change the way you consume music, gotta give all your fav albums a listen in Hi Res and really take in all the small details.
You buy an amp?
The Fidelio x2's already changed the way I consume music once so I hope the 1990's are crazy enough to change that again. Thankfully I have a f***ing massive hi-fi music collection so I'll be ready to go out the box.
I've got the Schiit Modi & Magni 3 so I should be good on the amp/dac. I'm thinking of grabbing the Schiit Loki for EQ control since I've seen so many mixed opinions on the treble with the 1990's. What's your opinion been on the highs?
It's probably overkill but I've been debating upgrading from the Magni 3 to the THX x Drop AAA 789.

The highs are great but really depends on what you listen to, lows and midrange are all solid. Soundstage is incredible. They come with another set of pads so you’ll have to test which ones suits you best for the genres you listen to the most.
I was looking for the modi & magni 3 but it’s kinda hard to get here so I just went for the dragonfly, plus it’s really portable so that helps.

Which pads do you personally prefer?
Recently bought the Beyerdynamic 770 Pro 80 Ohms. Absolutely love them. Even the bass is great in these for a studio headphone.
these. ..

Really depends, I’m using the a***ytical pads atm as it’s a little more bassy and less treble which is good for most albums I listen to.
Default pads are more comfortable I must say.

Did you mention those backwards by chance? Mine came with the balanced pads on and I just switched to a***ytical (less holes) and I found the a***ytical to be a good bit less bassy but with overall much better detail. Definitely going to be switching them out depending on what I'm listening to. Anything other than hip-hop sounds much better to me through the a***ytical pads. Unless I'm the one that has them mixed up.
Sony wf 1000mx3, earbud version of those over ears everyone loves
Kind of want good wired over ears for home but these klipsch bookshelf speakers are great w/o a center speaker or sub so 🤷🏽♂️

Actually yeah I mixed them up

I've got the guide here in front of me and it says the ones with less holes and a lighter grey color are the a***ytical pads. "ensure a neutral sound"
more holes and darker grey are balanced with a "slight bass boost)

Yeah I mixed up the names lol, I’m using the balanced ones
How noticable is the difference between ATH—50x and 40x?
Not enough to be worth going from 40 to 50. If you are upgrading the m40 then save your money for something better.

Which ones brodie?
Listening to my m40x when connected to my MacBook is just something else man
More defined bass, wider sound, slight more details

Lmao if you think ath m40s are wide wait till you actually try open back headphonez. Really the ATHS have a really small soundstage

I already knew the soundstage wasn't gonna be good anyway, but the imaging itself is great tbh. I think what you mean is they give off more of a 2-dimensional type of sound, which I could see why. ngl all the music I listen to sound more exciting and fun through my whip, which is a 2017 Impreza
