I like to talk to my bestbffiend about random business ideas sometimes and thought of something intresting. He's also my business partner and we run a company full time together. This idea is a reach as of now but I think me and him together can get any thing off the ground.

    The idea

Om making an rnb album right now and was just thinking about how artists basically get f***ed in terms of earnings. By a lot. They have no control of anything these days and get in debt before even making a dime. Look rich for a few years and then burn out to being broke.

What if listeners can directly support artists they love and also benefit themselves by doing so?

Let's say I create a platform or website. Idk call it "BackStage" where artists can list their songs and gather donations or tips. Let's say I release a 10 song album, and list them there. You as the listener pick songs you like and donate. In exchange for your support and momey you get a "share" in the song.
The more you donate the bigger the share. Each song gets a live share price. Then I tie all supporters to the revenue of that song. Any money that song makes a certain % goes to supporters. Basically like a company stock. If the song blows up u get paid for being an early supporter or ongoing supporter.

Shares for each song can be sold as well or traded. This way the fans directly get to support the artist and benefit too. In essence the fans own the music. They own pieces of the art. No more corporate leeaches.

Then the artists can use that funding to do shows, more music, tours etc etc. Again the bugger they get the bigger the value of each share becomes.

Am I f***ikg high or does rhis sound like a decent outside the box idea.

GET ME 1,000 SHARES OF BOY’S A LIAR PART 2 AND GET ME THEM YESTERDAY
But seriously, cool idea, OP. Not sure if it would work practically, but it’s interesting.

Would the artists still get royalties? Sounds like you're saying the supporters would get tied to revenue

this idea has been suggested before but imo i think it would just further contribute to unnecessary commodification of art and wouldn't solve any fundamental issues in the industry

What if you had a birthday party and nobody showed up 🥺

When I was like 7 we had a group of 6 friends that would play soccer together. One of the guys was kind of an outsider who was our friend by association because he was best friends with one of the guys in our group.

Anyways, this guy had a birthday party at his house. We all went with gifts and s***, we were 7 keep in mind. This man opened the door, said his mom doesn't know us and only let in the guy he was best friends with. We just stood there, 7 years old, with gifts rejected at the door 😂 immigrant parents lol. We are still all best friends but we never forget that shady s*** lol. It's his wedding this summer. I'm thinking of telling thatbsavage story
