the og lowkey actually had like 4 reacts back in 2018 and i even initially built this site with the plan to have them pretty early, but some people were mad enough about us even having likes so i just kinda decided against it. technically we have reactions and that's what they're called, there's just only one type of reaction lol

im kinda tired to think much about this rn but i feel like there's so much nuance in reacts a lot of the time, especially in communities like this, even just with likes... and a laugh/cry/whatever react on a comment can mean so many diff things depending on context etc it can be hard to tell sometimes

also im trying to use likes as a signal for the recommendation system and feed rn, i feel like making it even more difficult by adding more ambiguity any time soon would be a terrible idea

Oh I didn’t even realize this thread, and only 4 days ago too. Well I’m surprised to hear most of the site was against it but I think testing it’s utility as a premium only feature before going global would be a good way to test the waters.

Or what if we made this feature exclusive to the OP post?

Adding a button/page that acts like a Hall of fame for big threads where you can see all the most-liked posts would be the coolest feature ever

kinda like the idea of love heart (like it is ) and a thumbs down or cross for bad posts
