, Harlem MC Big L was brutally murdered after being mistaken for his brother who was a d*** dealer. Big L left a unfinished legacy when he left. A few months before his death he was in talks with Jay-Z in signing with his Roc-A-Fella label. L was about to sign but was brutally murdered just days before the deal would be finalized. If L didn’t die, he most certainly would’ve signed with Jay & the label would’ve blown up. With Big L alive for the release of his second album “The Big Picture”, it would’ve sold a lot better under Roc-A-Fella’s management. With L on board, Beanie Sigel would’ve not been signed to Roc-A-Fella. The bigger issue is the feud between Jay-Z & Nas. After Nas releases his legendary diss track “Ether”, Big L unleashes a diss track that is so powerful Nas backs off completely. Thanks to Big L, Jay-Z wins the beef & Nas’s career starts to fall off as he never releases his critically acclaimed “God’s Son”. After Nas’s career takes a huge hit, the spotlight shifts to Big L as he is widely considered the “King of New York”. Once Kanye West joins Roc-A-Fella, he starts producing classic hits for L. Thanks to his world class production from Kanye as well as other well known producers, Big L takes home the Grammy for Best Rap Album, beating out Eminem’s “The Eminem Show”. Big L however, sees great potential in Eminem’s horrorcore style & decides to work with him. Meanwhile, Jay-Z starts to worry about that L will leave Roc-A-Fella for Shady/Aftermath. A feud erupts between Jay-Z & Eminem as they fight over who’s the top dog(neither, it’s Big L). L decides to not take part in this feud so he leaves Roc-A-Fella & quits on his joint album with Eminem. Big L starts to work with Eminem’s mentor Dr. Dre though. While Big L & Dr. Dre work on an album together, Eminem’s new album “Encore” turns out differently. Eminem needs someone riding shotgun with him other than 50 Cent, so he chooses none other than Brooklyn chopper Busta Rhymes. “Encore” includes features from Big L, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, & DMX for some reason. “Encore” is a success, but Eminem’s career turns out differently.

Without realizing his problems, Eminem dies in 2006 from a d*** overdose. His legacy of 4 classic albums certifies his status as a top 5 MC. For more on the Eminem fallout you can see the post about his death, but let’s get back to Big L. L’s album with Dr. Dre turns out to be overhyped by the media & is L’s worst work of his career. L being the good guy he is, politely parts ways with Dr. Dre & reconciles with Jay-Z. L & Jay-Z get back together & save both their careers as L bounces back with a great album & Jay-Z ends his hiatus. So overall, Big L signs with Roc-A-Fella, ends Nas' career with a rough diss track, & releases 3 more great albums as well as 1 good one & 1 bad one. Jay-Z gets jealous of L’s success & takes it out on Eminem, Jay gets back with L after his disaster album with Dr. Dre & keeps his career going. With a flawless discography, Eminem is strongly considered a top 3 MC with Pac & Biggie. Kanye West focuses more on production, but still releases his classic “The College Dropout” album. After 20 years in the game, Big L releases 7 albums, wins 12 Grammys with 31 nominations, sells 3 platinum albums, & goes down as the greatest MC of all time. And the rest is history.

We don't know, he was about to sign to the Roc so his popularity might've exploded.

if he hadn't passed away and hov gave him song writing tips it would've been over for these rappers
