3.15.20's and Donda's covers make perfect sense and are fitting for the albums lol. Yes, it's "lazy", but folks just want rehashed, super maximalist artsy covers a la MBDTF like they're fanfics.

Album covers aren't just for you to stare at your vinyl that you're never gonna listen to.

Honestly, which do you think is better?

    Or

First picture encapsulates 2020 so well and the album dropped 2 months before George Floyd was even killed

I grew up in the era where we never gave a f*** about an album cover just vibed to the music

what era was that? cause i'd like to believe cover art has only become less important as far as the generations that make up ktt's user base.

Brooklyn rapper Yasiin Bey expressed his love for the Madvillainy album cover in a 2009 interview by explaining that he purchased the vinyl on sight despite not owning a record player. “I bought it on vinyl just to stare at the album,” he said “I stared at it and I just kept going, ‘I understand you.’”

I can't blame him, I'm looking at my Madvillainy poster right now

  • it's so corny when y'all post obviously s*** covers that only a small amount of people would see value in. like some of these artists being mentioned haven't had incredible artwork in the past. like that's not proving your point i'm sorry. lol

Yeah man thats my whole thing. On the mainstream side of things its f***ing embarrassing. Outside of it tho there's some f***ing heat. All of the covers you posted are incredible and there's an obvious difference between the ones you posted and the ones in op. Niggas just don't know art and this thread is proof of that based off the responses of "they are decent"

Even though Kiss Land is my favorite Weeknd project, one thing I'm always gonna knock is its album cover.

It's just mad...boring. Not the best picture of The Weeknd either.

I've seen a lot of alts made for it that look better, and while I know some he likely couldn't use because it features naked women on it, case in point this one:

He probably couldn't do this because again, nudity, but I feel like this would've fit well as Kiss Land was his debut album. It fit the same kinda theme as his mixtapes, however it would still stand out the most among them due to its color scheme being so striking from House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence

Another one I think he should've used was the cover art he used for the Kiss Land single. Clearly he could've used this one too because that's what is used on DSPs for that song

I've always thought kissland cover was ass also. He couldve gone about it in so many different ways.

There's no real "better" in art.

The first picture is obviously a lot more fleshed out literally, but the second and actual cover is much more ambiguous. It makes you think a lot more about what the themes for 3.15.20 are and allows the person consuming that art to interpret the album in different ways.

Like the Donda cover. Some people think it's supposed to be signifying death and mourning (theme throughout the album and the title with his mom). Some think it's Kanye flexing the fact that he can do whatever he wants and still be at the center of attention (the masks and all that). Even the "closed eyes" meme still holds some kind of meaning.

I'm not trying to sound "pretentious" or whatever buzzword KTT feels like throwing up today. But the two album covers you showed have different goals in mind. One isn't necessarily better.

Lot of words to cope. You'd prefer having the first cover rather than the one we actually got. You know it, I know it, anyone reading this post knows it

Music is in a terrible spot overall IMO

Lot of artists aren’t doing anything special and are making comfortable albums that don’t challenge the listeners

    Hope artists get inspired again
