Sep 13, 2021·1 replyIt’s not even clipping, it sounds like it’s a compressor with a limiter and lots of gain. I think the limiter has hard distortion on it on purpose.
I think it’s coming from the organ, the organ has a rotator that gives it that chorus-y/ tremolo-y/ phaser-y sound and it seems to trigger the crackle when it hits a certain mid-high frequency.
I think it’s a bit too much distortion but there’s lots of that on the album.
