Two if you follow what you would call their appeal the cartoon gimmick they follow a storyline which would explain the off the wall lyrics for the most part (not all songs apply to this)
Back in MTV where everything was considered fresh Gorillaz was a breathe of fresh air plus the Del The Funky Homosapien Verse is still stuck in my head to this day.
I do agree with you their is better music out there gorillaz isn’t for everyone but they got at least one song for just about everyone. The schoolboy Q track go hard if you love rap while they have some dance and rock track out there too. Lately he’s been doing more indie rock too
