Bit of a weird thread but something i have always wondered

It seems to be rare that make pedophiles are attracted to young girls even though they appear to be straight men otherwise , especially when the pedophiles are politicians/people in power. Why are so many of these people wanting to abuse young boys?

deep down they feel weak and fragile and they think, misguidedly, that the only way to feel secure is to amass wealth and abuse the vulnerable in hopes that it makes them feel powerful or at least safe
and they're probably still hurting from when it happened to them
