I would say the leak era leading up to the drop of tha Carter III would rank as number one. I don't think I was ever as excited to be a fan of the culture as I was watching Wayne stake his claim as the best rapper alive.

going to sunday service and the listening parties

  • Mar 3, 2021

Yup. The lead up to C3 easily. Never seen anything quite like it. Even Emo kids were listening to the leaks and mixtapes.

Also, the lead up to The Massacre.

I know it sounds crazy because people usually prefer GRODT but the combo of GRODT's impact, Beg For Mercy, Lloyd and Buck going Plat, The Game signing with G-Unit, and the Piggy Bank diss track, The Massacre's hype levels were through the roof.

Then, when the Massacre was killing it in sales and radio, 50 ends off the year with a blockbuster movie. It was crazy af to witness as a kid.

Drake 2011-2016 was a great time to be a fan.

Still is of course but things were really exciting then.

tlop i only got see in theaters couldn’t get msg tickets

    jik is a funny story

i had tickets from saint pablo tour that me snd my friend photoshopped to look like tickets for the jik thing

we tried to pass em off as real. s*** was right in the middle of spanish harlem and it was lit

we got to the door and they didn’t let us in. we just stayed outside hoping somehow we could sneak in

turns out 20 min later it got shut down think it was cops and capacity but idk, we heard music from outside and was just hype off it

i think i hate this record sm bc energy around it was insane. there was niggas dressed up as jesus running around les playing album and there was busses playing the album like a week before the drop, and u used to see kids chasing that s***

good times right before everything got shut down

  • Watching soundcloud / no jumper rappers come up and continuing to watch there career post soundcloud no jumper

  • Mar 3, 2021

xxx’s rise snd death was big for me too tbh bc i used to play him od in high school, a year or two before his debut dropped

it was so crazy to witness bc me snd my friend thought he would be the last soundcloud rapper to blow. turns out everyone we thought would blow ended up being washed or still struggling to “break”. we thought he just wasn’t commercial enough and had too many scandals but nigga ended up being one of the biggest stars in 2010s.

i didn’t care for his output right before his death but damn did it hurt
