If somebody covers an original song that you wrote and someone else sings it better, then your version no longer exist

Production/melody carries songs with poor lyricism all the time. I don't like the lyrics to Hotline Bling at all but I still fw the song because of the vibe and hook.

I also think that good lyrics are underrated by listeners who are used to hearing artists who don't put any effort in. A lot of great lyricists do stir up discussion and resonate with people even if they aren't huge sellers. Clearly writing does matter quite a bit, even if it's not the #1 thing for people.

For example: I’d never listen to Drake’s RnB songs just because how banal and lifeless his voice is. Bob Dylan is an amazing songwriter, but his voice is a toaster so get that nigga outta here.
