Unpopular opinion but the 2000's, mainly due to impact on my life.
Obviously, there's tons of 90's and 10's hip hop I love and bump all the time.
But man....Growing up as a kid listening to the variety of 50/G-Unit, prime Wayne, Kanye, Eminem, Dipset, Nelly, Outkast, Jay, Nas, Missy, Neptunes, TI, Jeezy, Lupe, Lil Jon, etc. was just amazing.
I still remember rapping the entire Upgrade U freestyle by Wayne as a kid with other friends and we knew the whole freestyle by heart. We didn't even know Hov's verse on Upgrade U lol.
And I remember even teachers saying "G-G-G-G Unit" at school to be "cool" with the kids.
And going to watch ATL and This Christmas in the movies with my family just to see TI and Chris Brown in the leads lol.
Good times but obviously there were lows as well like the rise of one hit wonders towards the end of the decade.
sounds like such a beautiful time to be growing up in and witnessing in real time the early 2000's were special.

Yup. I know the 90's or early 10's had more quality albums and what have you but the 00's just had more special moments imho.
Wayne and 50/G Unit's mixtapes runs were just insanely good. Only Future comes close to those runs.
And prime Wayne in general was probably the most dominant feeling rapper ever when you combine his sales, features, mixtapes, loosies, and overall hype.
Even Em's peak was super cool to witness. I know KTT is polarized about him but a lot of people f***ed with him in his prime, even in the streets. His rapping was sick af and Forgot About Dre was a legit staple in my hood. I remember even being pissed at not being able to see 8 Mile as a kid because the film had that much hype lol.
Then you have Jay and Nas dropping quality albums post-90's like Blueprint, God's Son, Stillmatic, and Black Album.
Outkast hitting their peak in 00-04 on top of the rise of Kanye and the Neptunes who held it down for "alternative" rap.
MF DOOM hitting his prime in the underground.
Ghostface dropping his best albums(imho.)
Dipset dropping dope music and influencing the culture.
Lupe being the OG blueprint for the "blog era" with his projects.
Cudi dropping his debut.
Lil Jon, Ludacris, and Nelly dropping endless club bangers.
I feel the 00's gets downplayed because the bad stuff like Soulja Boy and Mims left bad impressions towards the end of the decade and that's what some people remember the most.
Im gonna cheat and say my 3 favourite eras (im french and 35 for the context) : 1) 1999 - 2004 : AFTERMATH 2) 2012 - 2014 : ASAP/TDE 3) 2015/20 : Young Thug / Future / Migos
