  • Jul 30, 2020

    I’m anti-life

It'd be cool if they didn't have to happen but it does.

Hmm im not convinced tbh bro, i think the 50/50 “ownership” of the child concept is solid in theory, but doesn’t take into account the reality that the child is only growing inside one of the two people in the partnership.

In a scenario where carrying the child to term was a serious risk to the mother - nothing as severe as death but maybe like she’s gonna lose a limb (no i have no idea how that would happen either lol but humour me pls). If the logic is that saving the life of the child is more important than the limb of the mother, are we saying a man should be able to force that decision on her?

  • I feel that women should have the freedom to choose what to do because it’s her body. But also the father should have some say in the matter wether the child lives or dies. Not saying you have to keep it but a conversation should happen.

No but imo the two situations are too different for that a***ogy to work

  • I understand both sides of this argument. Many people believe the baby is a part of a woman's body, so it is her choice -- sensible. Many people believe that the baby is it's own individual and deserves it's own agency -- again, sensible.

Like a true galaxybrain, I'm somewhere in between; a sperm that fertilized an egg isn't an infant, but at some point, it becomes one. It's hard to argue that an arbitrary abortion 5 minutes before birth is just 'removing cells', but it's also hard to argue that an undeveloped mass incapable of even surviving outside of the womb is infanticide.

Personally though, I don't give a s*** about what you do with your baby. Just keep that little s*** away from me

Use condoms tbh, To avoid getting thru that process

I can see the logic behind considering abortion to be murder, and honestly would be uncomfortable with my partner having one.

But also think it’s 1000% a personal decision and the law should never ban it

    pretty much my views

I personally find them kind of... cruel (depending on the distance of the pregnancy), but at the same time, as a proponent of individual choice, I’m not opposed to them and believe they should be up to the individual, not controlled by government law

I dont like abortion but I wouldnt make illegal or some s***. This is just me personally.

However I think the solution to the discussion is not wether abortion should be an option or not but rather making a society that doesnt WANT to abort kids.

But I am also scared of a society that would treat abortion like it is nothing.

I am uninformed on this stuff but I'll give you my uninformed view

I consider myself pro choice but theres the question of where do you draw the line? the morning after pill is clearly okay to me, and having an abortion with an 8 month old fetus is clearly not okay to me. so where exactly do you put the line? idk man. I think the mother should decide as soon as possible. maybe I'm in favor of 1st trimester abortions only. idk. I would need to look into the science of it a bit more to decide

Your dog in my care is not the same thing as our child in my womb (if i was the mother of ur kid 💀💀). And tbh when I’ve boarded my dogs before they actually do get you to sign over some rights about decision making for healthcare (even up to being put down) to them while in their care.

Again the key to me is the conflict between theory and practice here. As you’ve acknowledged there would need to be exceptions and some sort of legal process to determine if the criteria for an exception was met (including appeals) - how do you fit such a complex process jnto a short timeframe? If a woman finds out she’s pregnant quite late on, how do you stop the process dragging on (perhaps deliberately in some cases) beyond the point where it is legally allowable / medically safe to carry out an abortion?

On a wider note you’ve also got the problem of forcing women to carry children to term, even if the result of a one night stand or possible accident (broken condom for example).

While i appreciate that you’re sincerely advocating for a 50/50 split, in reality you’re just flipping the current balance of power in the other direction
