Zero experience. You don't need much music theory to get started; just learn about time signature (4/4 only really), key and bpm. You're all set once you know these.

i knew nothing when i started in 2013

all i knew was i wanted to make jungle like i heard on midnight club and gta liberty city stories.

took me bout a year n a half to get the hang of it and even then i still knew nothing about music theory. looking back at those songs, i had s*** all out of key but thats not all that important tbh in the beginning. as long as it sounds good, you dont need music theory until you start taking it serious

Well go on YouTube and watch some beginners piano lessons that teach you what notes, scales, and chords are. And then watch vids on what scale degrees are

It's not as hard as it may seem.

I said it's not important when you first start out cause you have to have good ideas first off tbh and find your sound

Gain experience first. Find some loops, sample your favorite song, replicate one of your fav songs.

After that you’ll start to research on the skills you lack on. Took me a bout 2 years to get the hang of it. It’s all about creating and the rest will come

I sang and barely know how to play piano but no theory. It’s extremely easy for me to ear things out tho

REAL ONE DETECTED FOR MAKING JUNGLE

I'm part of yeska beatz. Underground jungle label my boy BC Rydah started few years back. He dug my sound and let me release my second album on the label back in March and now I'm officially part of it.

There's a lot of great stuff on this page 🤔 glad to see other Americans writing jungle/dnb stuff

I've mostly been writing jump up, haven't gotten around to finishing I anything yet. I dislike most of what I write, but I'm trying to get something finished by the end of the year.

what i started doing early on was i compared my records to well known records and played mine after them in like a mini mix. if a record i was working on didn't stack up, i would scrap it or redo it

if you think it could fit in a old school comp or in a mix by your fav dj, you've got a good thing going.

Love this advice, thanks man. I a/b a lot, but I think I need to just stop overthinking stuff
