It is simply chart placement or longevity on the charts? Like, there are songs that come in extremely hot for the first week and then fade into obscurity. When we look back on those songs 10 years for now and see that they peaked at #1 on the billboards, will it still be considered a hit? But there can be songs that never peaked at number 1 but stuck around way longer.

What makes a hit a hit??

    Chart longevity >>> chart placement

If it's anything like that other thread then those music executives might've just made this thread fr

I am not on a payroll bro lol. I’d be busy actually trying to make a hit or asking HOW to make one

I just see people completely rely or chart placing and say “this person has more hits then ____”. But in a versus, they’d get murdered. I just wanted to see how others felt about it

we know the answer for this

Humble was a hit that apparently didn’t have any longevity

Charted 35 spots higher than Pop That, but I bet French winning that round in a versus

i think certs (assuming they are up to date) but you can really only compare from same era.

nowadays plat eligible in a year to me is a hit.
