I just can’t buy this
Look through Bruno’s top songs. You literally know all of them. And the list just goes on and on. Say what you will about the songs themselves, but anyone who can produce the sheer volume of ubiquitous hits that Bruno has is special.
Im not a Bruno stan, but I will ride for his ability to make a hit, cause it’s undeniable.
What makes Bruno Mars so special?
Hello?
he’s insanely talented and exercises quality control better than most
they dont make them james brown 60s routine rehearsals with choreographers teaching them something that was 60 years old anymore
Dude just got the juice, strong voice and his throwbacks just got that authenticity to them
His duds are DUDS tho, that "today I'm not doing anything whistle" is one of the worst
he has a lot of great songs but idc for him now
He’s one of those pop stars that make simple digestible music and he does it well
And while he relies on nostalgia for hits, he’s able to make it work consistently

There’s tons of artists that attempt to tap into a nostalgic sound but just fall flat. He tends to do it masterfully

could you name a few top off of your head? I'm trying to figure out what they lack sonically that bruno doesn't
he definitely mastered the whole nostalgia thing and somehow makes it work every time
honestly, I don’t even like his music, but I can’t deny he’s an insanely good singer and performer. that’s probably the only reason it doesn’t feel as cringy as it could

His first two albums he wasn’t doing anything nostalgic. Just traditional radio pop. But yeah out of everyone who tried do the funk throwback pop, he was the best.
He's one of my favorite of major popstars. Songwriting is the weakest link for a lot of today's popstars.

and those 2 albums aren't overly long either: just the hits. so, imo, even in his nostalgic era, he isnt overworking the angle as much as The Weeknd has
