just got into g jones.
visions is soooo good!
hell yeah dude, dont stop with whats on spotify/apple too if you specifically like visions too.
look into all the remixes, "features" and hidden contributions over the years too. He shadow produced for bassnectar all the way back in like 2013 too. great ass s*** on his soundcloud too like krabby patty secret formula which was years ahead of its time
@proper & @safe have some of the best electronic taste i've seen, so I'm sure they can set you up better than me
can’t be true. my taste pretty basic and kinda specific (mostly just care about whatever’s poppin in the uk atm w a pop/club influence + it’s a lot of good electronic music idgaf about + don’t know s*** about older electronic music history or whatever).
it’s prolly some euro posters on here who grew up on this s*** with much better taste or at least more knowledgeable than i am.
i’ve kept up w electronic music since like 2006 but it was never my main focus until like 3-4 years ago.
but you can just check my thread history on ktt for recs. i literally post almost every new song i fw on here.
I guess my hot take is waka is severely underrated as an innovator and lyricist, as well as influential rapper
ik all yall wanna say you respect him for flockavelli/hard in da paint but it goes so much deeper than that
the real hot take is I dont think flockavelli is a top 5 waka project

i'm a uk bass/jungle/dnb fan, but trying to expand my taste

I like that s*** too but I just dont go throw it all on most the time. some sets in the background here and there tho

your taste is elite man; don't put it down
but yeah, i'm very new to electronic music myself and trying to dive deeper into it. still haven't listened to aphex's twin discog in full
I basically only pay attention to wook bass at this point but I guess I gotta look at ur post history
see i don’t even know what these subgenres are or how to identify them besides the super obvs ones like jungle or dnb but even those get confusing sometimes
like i’ve heard 15 different songs that are supposed to be techno or a subgenre of techno and none of them sound alike so that’s why i just call everything electronic music lol
any favorite remixes/features of his you like on soundcloud/youtube?
Pitter patter with dj shadow is insane, thats on all streaming tho
bleep bloop minid lunice remix (also check out bleep bloop too, more industrial bit similiar)
hes got this ep called odd ep in my drive or something
air is something else with that bass
work all day - footise g jones remix is sick, youd prob really like that one
diamonds on my neck
could probably just run thru anything on his soundcloud, im just naming random songs I remember as I look through. theres so many lol. basically everything is worth listening to
if you like mixes enough the illusory OS series is just something else... he did em during covid for fun
oh yeah and if youre not listening to EPROM yet get on that, same with alix perez. they got together to make SHADES but they crazy af and super similiar/regular collaborators

like i know aphex twin is a goat in this genre but most of it just isn’t really my thing

lowkey same. outside of the original selected ambient works and songs like drukqs, i haven't listened to him much.
but old deep house like this is more my style

g jones is basically aphex if he was hardcore af if thats your interest lol
same with EPROM but he can get a lot weirder/abstract
depends on what you like tbh.
you want a fast tempo?
something to dance too?
trap (electronic version)?
it's so vast man.
i'm a big fan of overmono, four tet, bonobo, iglooghost, rampa, s. fidelity, jayda g, catching flies, gold panda, govi, nosaj thing, reva devito, jasper tygner, leon vynehall, nia archives, etc.
some tracks i've been bumping recently:

Flume (htif is the greatest electronic work ever, skin is the greatest pop edm/future bass album, skin companion eps fuse rap/rnb/indie with edm to an insane degree), James Blake, Marian hill (great album this year and marian is SUPER ktt2 esque, surprised I see love for tove lo but not them)
G Jones is a goat, the ineffable truth + tangential zones EP (epilogue) is a masterful story told with very few words. Acid disk 1 is one of the most boundary pushing works of all time in music, everything else is worth a listen too
From a vein - shades is maybe the best edm album this decade so far
Beyond that I can drop playlists or lists
Yeah I’ve heard of flume a few times over the years but never listened
I prefer Drake over Kanye
I don't like the Weekends journey into pop, except for After Hours.
I don't always listen to music since sometimes listening to it too much clutters my head. I mostly listen to explicitly listen or in the background at work.
