You think that FF9 is gonna be like FF7R style or an HD chibi style game?

    Who knows.

I know unoffically there has been a team of game developers and designers who have been remastering FF9 from the ground up graphically, true to form, in their free time as a passion project — The Memoria Project — but the official remake probably won't be like this.

I'm sure Square will retain the game's original "chibi"/high fantasy art style, because that's a huge part of what makes that entry so special. I can see them doing an FF7:R version of that style, if that makes sense.

However, I'd LOVE if they kept the game turn-based (or made it an option), and also release the entire 4-disc narrative at once instead of installments like FF7:R. But I highly doubt either of those things will happen unfortunately.

On one hand I want them to retain the chibi style to stay true to the original game, on the other hand I’d love to play ff9 with hd graphics and a more realistic artstyle. FF16 seems like it will kinda scratch that fantasy itch but I don’t remember the last time I played a lighthearted fantasy game with stunning graphics.

I would hope squeenix learned their lesson from the lukewarm reception of ff7r when it comes to multiple installments but we’ll see I guess

It can be HD and still keep it's original art style though. It can even look more realistic — the high quality pre-rendered environments in the original version even had realism mixed in with their fantasy designs.

But making it look recognizeable to the real world wouldn't be FF9, since it was intentionally made not to be like that after FF7 and FF8 put high fantasy on the backburner. The FF7 Remake is perfectly fine being made hyper-reakistically because that's what the original version was going for (and FF8 even moreso).

    I agree with you 100%
I’m just craving a non-gritty high fantasy game with realistic graphics lol

They definitely need to stay true to the original art style

I think I played the demo awhile back and enjoyed it but never got around to the actually game. Beautiful looking game btw
I’ll probably cop it for the switch at some point. Seems like the perfect game for a rainy day

None. Rather just get a 100% remaster from the ground up, no other changes except qol
