if i asked a wayne stan to tell me 5 tracks off rebirth they'd flop. therefore he cant pivot that well within the experimental region based on what hes shown. thats not to say he doesnt have a hit in there.

And Tyler but the difference with Tyler is he started out experimental / alternative or whatever you wanna call it. He had his own way of creating outside of the mainstream since the beginning BUT NOW he's now molding his sound into a more mainstream sonic that serves his origins greatly while conquering pop music.

tbf though, as much as they gassing him up. they are right.

kiss land + trilogy was deffo not mainstream level. and after that he went on a pop run which is when i stopped fw him as much, but i did understand he was on a MJ run, bound to happen.

i cant speak for after starboy , i heard leaks that he was going to do experimental and then he was dropping pop songs like tell your friends and never listened to the new s*** since. I heard its good tho

I guess my issue stems in the fact that although he has had a stark change in musical identify from his early beginnings, I don’t really find his music breaking the mold of pop music. The music is made with the intention of being catchy and the sounds reflect that which is not groundbreaking, and although that may sound critical it’s no reflection of the quality or presentation because in that regard I think he’s absolutely one of the best in the business hands down. I just don’t like this notion that it’s some overly complex, genre bending music where it’s becoming paraded as a “it takes a certain level of intelligence” type of album. All personal opinion of course not saying my word is fact but I know I’m not the only one who feels that way
