Technically I first got into hip-hop with Akon and Kardinal Offishal lmao. "Dangerous" was my s*** and then that made me get the album from it
But eventually I checked out Wayne because of Akon's "I'm So Paid", then to Eminem, then I was already interested enough to check out MBDTF when it leaked. It was perfect timing and the rest is history
i started listenin to rap in 2003/04/05 with these albums
50 cent - get rich or die tryin
lil wayne - carter 2
jay-z - the black album
outkast - speakerboxxx/the love below
the game - the documentary
carter 2 still is my favorite rap album
In 2009 i was 10 and had too much access to the internet,
Started listening to Wayne (c3), Eminem(white), Jay Z(bp3), i loved fabulous bc of “girl u be killin em”
wayne T.I. luda kast juvy mystikal etc. mostly just southern rappers because that's who my dad listened to when i was growing up
one of my first memories as a kid is the busta rhymes put your hand where my eyes can see video
didn't really decide to start listening to full albums on my own till i heard my first jay-z album tho. never was much of a music fan but when i heard the black album that s*** blew my mind
Y’all really started to listen to rap less than a decade ago and are older than 2 decades?
Talib Kweli at vans warped tour in like 2002 or some s***.. def went there for the pop punk/emo and left the concert as a hip hop fan and never looked back..
also watching nas one mic video on mtv as a child might have been the first time I realized rap could be “real” and not just about clubbing and b****es (cause that’s all I was exposed to on the radio and mtv)
