I want to push the button on Nas but I feel like he lives most of his career in A. I think he peeked into S a lot of times though. What do you think? This isn’t only my list so I’m open to suggestions or rebuttals
Where you base the ranks on?
No one thinks Billy woods?
Billy definitely a good one. I might throw Earl on there as well
Nas definitely belongs on that S Tier list @op
He's just as great of a lyricist as any one of those guys you listed.
Where you base the ranks on?
Just guys that for a majority of their career have been seen as aliens lyrically by fans and by also their peers. No number ones or s*** like that.
Pull up to the park and that nigga gets challenged and he has a 16 ready to go type s***. And a godly one at that.
Mos Def
Nas
Biggie
Billy Woods
Andre 3k
Earl Sweatshirt
Does everyone feel like all 6 are S tier like top of the top???
mc ride (no i'm not joking)
The guy from death grips. I haven’t listened to him enough but if two other people agree with you then I will add him
nobody so far itt thinks jay z is one?
Nah he is A. He got cooked by Ye alot on that collab album. No s tier lyricist would let that happen.

I don’t know how Kendrick wouldn’t be on the list, Man is one of if not the best story teller’s in the genre
Also who has more entendres and bars than Push? Like every line in every verse is damn near a quotable
Hov

I want to include Kendrick but if I’m being honest he doesn’t play around enough in the entendre, punchline area. I’m with you but I’m also removing my bias. I think he is A tier but peaks his head into S when challenged. He also gets cooked too many times on songs where he chooses songwriting over lyrical exhibition and that’s why I appreciate his approach but it doesn’t always lend to him going crazy.

No use trying to find consensus on a rapper 95% of the board doesn’t want to listen to tbh
Put him on the list, you know he qualifies

I mean different guys are better at different things. Because if they have to be good at everything then Earl shouldn’t be on the list as he’s not a story teller at all
Push got insane bars but isn’t someone you’d go to for stories or concepts

Awesome. I agree.

+1
If you want to check out their lyrics, their first 3 albums have more traditional lyricism compared to the stuff after that which gets more abstract
