That song sounded so f***ing dope when Rocky dropped the song’s first verse in the L$D music video. I was hyped. Song finally dropped and it has a full on pop chorus that doesn’t fit the rest of the song whatsoever lol

Yeah I’m just saying that’s my opinion. I know SSLP is one of the most beloved albums ever, just to me the hook really takes away from the verses. Idk for me it makes the song lose momentum or something, if you get what I mean

I actually agree for the most part, right down to the momentum thing.
I’ve rapped that song more times than I can even count to myself, and most times I skip the chorus because it’s like, slightly slower and more elaborate than the slightly faster and more guttural verses, if that makes sense, and I always get a little shakey at the beginning of each verse if I do the chorus too.
I think a chorus that had the tempo and rhythm of something like The Real Slim Shady’s chorus probably would have worked better tbh

I only found this song a few days ago, amazing Dilla beat but agree with the hook being weak
