i was in 7th grade and it was 11pm in the mcdonalds parking lot. a car pulls up next to us and i can hear a sine wave synth playing over catchy chords kinda muffled. the driver then rolls down the window and i hear biggie say with the smoothest flow to ever bless my young ears at the time "to all the ladies in the place with style and grace, allow me to lace these lyrical douches in your bushes". it was love at first sight. that was it, that was the moment i realized i wanted to hear more.
I was either in Kindergarten or 1st grade when this came out and it was the 1st rap song that I vividly remember listening to in full as a kid.
In terms of which song made me an actual fan of hip hop though, I'd say "In Da Club" followed by "Wanna Get To Know You." And I continued to explore the genre since then.
