I applied for a passport back in February, I just got it last week. With the name wrong. And my trip is in a week. I have a copy of my application with the correct name btw

Passport agency practically told me to k ill myself, they dont do walk ins cUz oF COvId, and the next available appointment is all the way in San f***in Diego, across the country from me.

And Im not the only one, cuz they said take your stank ass to the post office if you wanna expedite it before your trip. And theres a line out the f***ing door, THEYRE CHARGING FOLKS MINIMUM 200 FOR THIS S***. I PAID 80 FOR EXPEDITED BACK IN FEBRUARY AND GOT IT 3 MONTHS LATER.

Labyrinthine bureaucracy made worse/slower during COVID and then because it’s bulky and slow, once it’s set on a course it’s hard to change (and frankly they have no real incentive to improve service). The cherry on top is that wait times for visas (as in for non-Americans trying to enter the US) are actually quite a bit worse.

I'm so glad I have mine today. I'm gonna put my tsa pass application this month to have my interview ready by September lol.

That being said - yes, the government is incompetent, from the local level up to the federal level. It's filled with people just like your peers - prone to error, selfish and willing to cut corners
