Graduation was huge because of who he was as a rap artist. By the time Pablo came out he was a f***ing global icon lol
Yeah I feel like Grad was his peak in rap TLOP was his peak in pop culture
Graduation, WTT, TLOP, and Donda.
Some will be confused by WTT but that was when Kanye was on a whole new way of hype coming fresh off of MBDTF and Good Fridays, performing in Coachella, being featured on ET, and running through models.
WTT was capping off that peak and the tour blew people's minds away esp. with he and Hov performing NIP multiple times per show.
TLOP-era. Coming off the back of his flawless 2004-2013 run, and the success of the YZY-Adidas collab, you had both longtime fans, and new fans who’d listened to his back catalogue yet to “experience” a Ye rollout, all eagerly awaiting his next album. The long wait time for the next project meant both fan bases massively grew in size.
I was one of the latter. Started listening to him around 2014. It's such a shame I only got to experience one perfect album release in real time, and some say it was already a slight decline from Yeezus.
During yeezus/pablo he was a fashion icon, rap superstar, dating KimK in her prime. That was peak ye fan base for sure and before the MAGA hat I think too right?
Style was peak, but even then, he was still rocking some wild s*** like the confederate jacket, and the ye fans at the time were like " yeah but that fit tho."
Really took the MAGA hat + the slavery comments for the fans to look at ye differently.

would you count Grad and 808s as one era? I didn't realize at first but 808s had multiple hits too. i don't know how the online reaction was.

Nah.
Grad and 808's are pretty distinct eras.
i think the old school (= TV) media hype in 2004-2009 was just as a big as tlop era. and i mean grammys, mtv, news...
but online discourse and fanbase probably peaked later
TLOP was definitely the peak. Hasn’t been the same since. Donda was shaping up to be another peak but then son lost his mind again
yes but its Joe Hendrys time now
Nah.
Grad and 808's are pretty distinct eras.
i thnk esthetically and musically yes, and his mom died in between. but his chart success was consistent throughout both eras
TLOP era was defintley peak popularity I feel like the old and new fans really mixed well during that era

He was a global icon during Grad & 808s also

That’s undersating Grad’s reach by a lot, he was touring hard
I feel like 2016-2017 was unreal
online the hype in 2010-2013 was wild but irl with 2016-17 it was just insanity, and the taylor drama helped

No it’s not
I’m saying TLOP impact wasnt so much about the music alone but its when Yeezy the company really took a hold on the way people were dressed, so that was more of a pop culture thing
Vs Grad was so big because it was full of smash hits it was a more music led era than TLOP

2017 was really quiet, no kanye sightings for months
