What was the last Drake song you heard for the first time that gave you the chills?

The last time this happened for me was Teenage Fever.

War, the cadences & internal rhyme schemes he rapped with paired with the the way he was addressing the mob wars in Toronto with delicate detail and poignancy coded in language & references only locals and true fans would understand was so overwhelming it gave me chills.

Also hearing it set to the backdrop of a new music video was exhilarating as well, it's rare we get a Drake premiere with a video so experiencing both at the same time was amazing.

    War

Nice track but did not give me the chills or give me “that feeling”

Drake puts out great, high-quality music, but post-2015, that feeling that he used to give me from his songs has come few and far between.

100% impressive the way he laid down the bars and addressed so much in just a single song. Personally, I’m not well-versed with all the things you mentioned (I live in the Bay Area lol), so it didn’t have the same effect on me.

I would say this is the closest thing for me, since Teenage Fever 👍

I think that's one of his biggest challenges right now, the more personal and detailed he wants to get in his music he runs the risk of alienating his fanbase outside Toronto.

probably Lose You or Duppy Freestyle

  • War

Still has me convulsing to this second

Never been to Toronto and just from the open book feeling of his lyrics from time always has me feeling like I know exactly what’s going on in his life

That’s true. I mean, I will say, though, that I don’t feel so alienated to the point that I’m like “ahh f*** this guy” “wtf is he talking about” “I don’t wanna listen to him anymore”. But War definitely didn’t resonate with me how a lot of his previous stuff has; still a great song though!

This is really what you wanted to say.
