What numbers? His only release to not debut at number one was post Scoprion, his biggest hits (Gods Plan, Nice For What) were prior to Scorpion. That’s not to say he’s washed or that he’s not on top, but I think the 2018 run is notably bigger than his run since

In My Feelings and Sicko Mode were after Scorpion. He got the billboard record for 200 songs on hot 100 the next year and DLDT was the 4th most streamed project last year. Artist of the decade, Care Package was his next #1 project after Scorpion, etc so many more he's achieved.

SOA didn't make a dent and that's just being objective 2018 was still his biggest year with or without it.

Woke up to to Twitter going nuttssss. Heard the song. Thought damn this is disappointing. I thought I was going to get the legendary Pusha T of the Clipse. Instead I got Pusha the Tea from Koonye's squad.

Everything he said didn't address s*** Drake said In Duppy Freestyle. Most of the song was him regurgitating everything Drake has said about himself and to this day it f***ing KILLS ME that people say Pusha was "psychoanalyzing him and breaking him down all his insecurities" as if this ain't just s*** Drake has said in songs himself for years.

40 line dope though can't believe he said that. F***ed up but hey it's battle rap. I just didn't think he hated Drake that much to say that s***. I knew people who blow the song bit out of proportion but I didn't think it would be this bad. Didn't worry though because I knew Drake could come back with someone that make people forget that. The song cover was genius idk how he got that.

Overall though was hella disappointed in Pusha. I've always been a fan of the Clipse and him as a rapper I think he is one of the best which is why I was surprised he came with this weak gossip girl/shade room s***. Afterwards I was just anxiously waiting for Drake to finish him off.... only for him not reply.... which just made me 10x more disappointed in Drake. Rough time for a Drizzy fan not gunna lie.

    CLB Day

We already knew that he was finding out whether or not he was a dad but push made it seem like he knew the kid was his already and just aint want nobody to know.

The texts with him and sophie just came out a few months before. But push fans and drake haters act like that didn’t exist so 🤷🏽‍♂️

If you look back at the Drake section on KTT during this time, you will see they did not believe Pusha at all and thought he was lying. The narrative upon release was that Pusha got this info from TMZ and both Pusha and TMZ were wrong

And Drake had known about his son for months by the point SoA came out, he was waiting to reveal his son for promo for the album. March 14th was supposed to be the moment that got everybody talking when the album dropped.

Drake name dropped Pusha’s wife and y’all mad bc he came at his friend and parents when you put it on wax nothing is off limits and if this had yall upset you would’ve never made it back in the day in the rap beef era. Drake took the bait, dropped a diss track, Pusha responded, Drake folded. Point blank and I say that as a die hard Stan of the man

Everyone always uses that excuse of him name dropping his wife as if he said anything about her. Literally nothing was said about her but her name. You want to compare that to making fun of an illness his friend has that might kill him one day at any time?

  • Jun 20, 2021

    This escalated fast.

Pusha won because Drake would loose a lot of bags to respond on this disrespectful level. Would have f***ed up his brand. J Prince was right about that.

I agree SoA didn’t hurt his career, I just think his 2018 was bigger than he’s been since so I wouldn’t say he’s bigger than he was then lol.

At the time there had previously claims about drake having a child, but ofc in drake section knew that he had already visited adonis for christmas way before either song came out. Of course all of this too, was after many threads about ghostwriting and what a reference track actually is. I felt that many of the claims being made in the song were from just an untrue standpoint. It makes for good content though. I thought that the choice of reusing a beat was kinda lazy on push's part. Overall I didn't really enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed duppy, but I also really like duppy's production. The cover part I was completely shocked which I give push full credit for it was a very smart move on his part, especially considering how drake used the cover art in back to back.

Same thing I thought. Said nothing about her but I guess the mere mention of her name means all gloves are off ? Lmao

Push still couldn’t outrap him so i could care less about the “news” everybody thought he was bringing to their attention. I’ve never scored a rap battle on who aired the most dirty laundry.

Yeah that's the most bullshit thing I ever heard. Mentioning her name warranted all of that? How sway??

I always say this... if it was the other way around... People would be on Drake's ass calling him a female, gossiper, Mr. Shade Room, etc for that s*** and would be praising Pusha if he made Duppy which was him just spitting nothing but facts and bars.

I’m not taking away from the severity of 40s injury but truthfully if I don’t f*** with you to begin with (whether that’s warranted is a different discussion) and you talk about my wife I’m not really going to be looking to take a moral high ground with you. Duppy went well beyond subtle subliminals so to me at least especially considering the history of the genre there’s nothing really off limits

I think I was reading that wrong. I thought you were arguing that it hurt the Scorpion run when I think the second half was actually stronger than the first half of that year.

Terence uses one angle against Drake the entire time ("writing").

As soon as he gets some tea, he says to put all that aside and attacks the people close to him, while also complaining that Drake attacked the people close to him.

Drake states that Pusher's fiance will in fact marry him soon and Pusher takes this as some kind of insult.

He then also says he wants "all the curses" and leave Ye out of it, then proceeds to go at everyone in Drake's life.

Dude is a walking contradiction lmao

Ri ain’t his wife/aren’t in a relationship and the song wasn’t addressing drake, plus Rih is a celebrity that everybody mentions, Virginia Williams you’re not just gonna reference out of nowhere lol. So many clear differences. I never even thought about drake when hearing that line
