Parents, siblings, impactful life event, friends, maybe all of those things/people? Let me know.
hard to say but i would imagine video games like gta, skate, tony hawk, burnout 3, ssx 3, etc helped a lot

friends and mtv when i was younger
asap yams when i was older
but tbh i always been a music person/kinda put myself on to most of the s*** i listened to/was finding s*** on my own
i found a lot of my fav music by myself but my dad played a big influence
And i pick up a lot of s*** from my friends too
I have 4 older siblings with different taste in music as a grew up
R&B sister
Rap brother
Rock brother
Metal sister
Pretty much forged my taste as an adult since I switch between these the most
I dig music on my own since I was young, soul is one of these discoveries (influenced by my mother kinda)
Video games helped a lot like Tony Hawk and Gta also music channels back in the 2000's
my own feelings, a certain genre/sound just connected with me
This is pretty much my reason as well.
The Beasties. First band I really liked as a kid, and if you take the artists that influenced them, the artists with whom they were contemporaries, and the artists whose music they sampled, you’re left with a great, eclectic roadmap of music to check out.
MTV and the internet
My sister. She used to play a lot of Jay Z and Dipset in the car .
So I was able to appreciate Jay’s music at a really young age, and she was the one who told me about Kanye in the College Dropout era
Also she told me about Tyler after seeing his Yonkers video on tv
Rap - Younger friends, Cousins
Rock/Metal - Older friends
R&B - Sister
Reggae - Dad
80's Pop - Mom
Everything else was me looking for new music on YT as a teen
My dad got me into rap. My cousin's boyfriend(s) put me on more rap. I guess Guitar Hero got me into rock. I took the ball and ran with it though.
Internet, MTV, friends, video games and WWE.
Funny enough wrestling got me into nu metal and from nu metal into hip hop. Not a fan of other genres atm. But i am still working on that
