Heard from plenty of people who were in the army that I know, that it's not worth it. Especially the pay even after basic or even deployment is still only $500 every 2 weeks unless you move up the chain of command, but even with more pay there's very little control over your life because they will own you for the time you enlisted and the stresses you will have to endure will not help because they will barely help you with any assistance. As other posters have said, it's mainly useful if you're gonna go to school and get the full use of the GI bill.

yeah thats what im thinking of doing. graduate with my bachelors then enlisting for the minimum amount of time then going back to school to get my masters degree

Almost did it like two weeks ago. I have friends who are into law enforcement and have an interest for the marines who talked me out of it.

Looking back, I’m glad they did. I’d say only go if you’re planning on going into infantry. And if you’re gonna get into the military, go marines. Don’t waste your time away from home and comfort to not get into the real s***, go big go all the way.

You’re only broke right now. I’m not trying to downplay it because I was trying to enlist just to move out and have a place to stay without paying rent. If you enlist, you’re gonna have to serve your time.

Just know they’re gonna talk to you like less than a child. Nothing is gonna be fun. The military is for those who are like crazy patriotic and don’t know what else to do with themselves. Military is plan z fam. It’s up to you though because I was close to going. I have my freedom now and no one yelling in my ear and stuff
