in a thread of mine he called a cis woman transgender for no reason and said he was doing it to "give people a heads up" and said "you'll be saying what the f*** when you look inside her pants"

From what I've read on the thread this seems to be more likely the case. Don't know the guy like that but always seemed to be a pretty reasonable person.
But I totally see how his comment can look bad. Just don't think he wrote it with that intention towards trans people
