Whats insane is not having a preference between the two, despite both being horrible.

The preference is one rightfully going to jail for being complicit in a genocide via funding and supplying weapons to the country enacting the genocide (Biden/Kamala), and the other one also going to jail or dying (Trump).

    I don't know about that

They been tryna get Trump locked up for a minute, and somebody already tried blowing his head off. These two things are still possibilities with fairly high chances of happening as time goes on.

As for Biden and the genocide thing...well that's really just a matter of time because the ICJ and ICC has already discussed investigating the US's involvement in the genocide. They've already been building a solid case against Netanyahu and Israel, gaining more support from the rest of the world so...

that’s awesome and I hope it all happens.

but in the meantime, as a preventative measure, it’s productive to vote against Trump.

I just don’t see how that can be argued.

Ion know man to me it's actually pretty easy to understand why, morally, people don't wanna be a part of voting for somebody who has said they support a country continuing a conflict in the Middle East along with enacting a genocide. If both options are for these things...I can also understand why people just don't bother with either of the options

genuine question, what would us being organized in the US look like for Palestinians on October 7th?

I support organizing and want to get involved but i guess my question is what does that look like?

It would look like us having strong unions that are willing to do a general strike to stop this genocide.

It would look like us having built the infrastructure where we could more effectively educate people on Palestine.

It would look like us having community defence to protect us from Zionist thugs at protests and encampments.

It would like us having the critical mass of people organized to escalate our struggle further, because there is so much more to do.

Are there any groups you know about in your area?

But you’re gonna live with either of these choices regardless, one being worse than the other. Why would you not vote against that?

We kinda came full circle here so I’m not sure if there’s much else to say.

Ask them if they prefer two bombs dropped today or one. Because that’s the actual reality of the situation that you want to ignore.

a vote is a vote. it's meant to express an individual person's opinion, and it's meant to be exercised in any way they choose. that's the core of democracy.

abstaining is a way of saying "hey ur not representing what I want in this election" and that's a perfectly understandable way to feel.

and what nort is saying makes sense too, I mean abstaining might help to change the democrats stance on s***, but that change would only take effect in the next election cycle, and that's only if the abstainers cost dems enough votes to lose the election. if everything goes as the abstainers want it, we're still getting a more aggressively pro-israel president for the next four years. and there's nothing wrong with being concerned about how that could affect palestine during those four years.

look, let's face it. american democracy is not direct democracy. the amount of say we have in what our country does, especially when it comes to military and diplomatic things, is limited. us regular civilians have a lot of obstacles in our way if we want to stop the genocide in palestine. there is no objectively correct course of action, they've all got their own pros and cons.

it's clear to me that nort, mamba, and all the other politically minded individuals in this thread think palestinian lives are the most important thing at stake here. you are all aligned in your values, it's just that you have different plans of action in mind. and that's ok!! ofc ideally we want a unified front but come on now the way ur going at each others necks over this is ridiculous. and it's even more ridiculous to try to imply that either of you doesn't care about palestine or lacks empathy.

You're ignoring all of the calls of Palestinian organizations that are actually in Gaza who want you to organize against the genocide, not vote for the person who is currently slaughtering them.

You won't find none of this about Kamala 2024

Just admit you're not willing to go beyond anything besides cast a vote.
