First one is super worth the watch, imo in some ways better than the sequel but 2049 has some out of this world aesthetics and does real justice to the world building so I say they’re both worth your time
damn. this thread may change topics lol.
how would you open a slow burn film?
Great question

Would be a challenge for me. My mind goes to sporadic chaos usually

CINEMA!
Manchester By The Sea / Prisoners/ No Country For Old Men / Blade Runner 2049 are some of mine
literally listed the two choices in my head, Old County and Prisoners
Place Beyond The Pines too to some extent

maybe I'm just misinterpreting the term

IMO I view slow burns as films more on the quiet end where it doesn’t feel like much is happening for a long time

would a movie like "bully" fall under this or even OUATIH?
A slowburn is some s*** that’ll make even the biggest cinephile consider turning it off and watching the rest another time cause of how slow it is. Some s*** that makes you go “let me have some patience it’ll be worth it

I can’t remember Bully tbh. And hmm OUATIH definitely has slow moments but it starts off pretty straight to the point and then slows down in the midddle.
Best recent examples I’d say is Burning, Nomadsland and Power of the dog
Basically films that start off slow, and to the impatient the plot can be seen as confusing or randomness. Films that take its time to reveal what the story/plot is.
Country, Prisoners and OUATIH are all pretty straight to the point about what the film is about and gets right to it quickly.
