Doesn’t just have to be fun hangout films like Linklater, can also be old Scorsese like Casino, Malick, Spike, etc. Just anything where plot takes a back seat but isn’t boring or confusing.
Tryna grab some inspiration.
You've probably already seen Chungking Express

Lowkey this.
It has a "plot" but it's mostly just an all star ensemble being funny as hell throughout the movie.
I don’t really understand. You mean a movie that’s still cool to watch visually even if you don’t know wtf is happening?
Hero and Paprika come to mind

When I was a kid, that movie was Avatar lol.
Damn is Drive similar to Rocky in structure?
“Boxing” movie where the boxing takes a back seat to the love story/character study
“Driving action” movie where the action takes a back seat to a possible love story/character study
Movie has an excellent plot
i agree but one could argue that the plot takes a backseat to the mood and vibe of the movie

Also Jackie Brown. I remember QT said he structured it so the first half is just a hang out film getting to know the characters and then the 2nd half they get into the plot.
Similar here where the first half is building these characters. And then around midpoint we get into the whole Oscar Isaac getting killled that puts the rest of the film into motion.
Lost in Translation
Babel
