I have no problem with country. I like Darius Rucker, a couple random country songs, folk is country adjacent and it’s one of my fave genres. But end of the day, country has always resonated more with a certain demo and never been big on ktt any version. So it just represents a shift of semographics

Ehhhh not necessarily more so just general working class themes, always been relatively conservative just not as overt as today

not really tbh, you can find some examples like Woody Guthrie or something but the genre was never overtly political like that. you can definitely say there were always some common elements like advocating for working class struggles and some overlap with countercultural movement with artists like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, etc.

but for all those examples you also have the examples expressing conservative ideals like traditional lifestyles and sometimes overtly conservative views. some examples of overtly racist country songs too. not to mention the fact that the whole style of music is rooted in traditionalism
