I notice that I need at least 7 hours, 8 would be perfect but I pretty much never get that.

Had too much on your mind lately? Work/school too stressful?
Lack of exercise? No healthy food?
Eating well, regular exercise and going to bed/waking up at roughly the same time each day helps a lot.
Personally I have found going for a walk, 30-40 minutes, in the evening helps a lot. Like after I have eaten and finished with some chores around my apartment. Then still having about an hour or before it is bedtime at around 10-10:30PM.
Yoga and mediation have also been helpful for me. I have a bad habit of not being able to stop thinking about work when I get home sometimes, but those things has really helped.
I also wait an hour or two before getting my first cup of coffee each day, so it is not the first thing I put into my body each day. Better with a big glass of water instead. Then I usually have my second cup of coffee some time after lunch and that is usually the last one each day for me. It really helps keeping my energy level at a pretty even state throughout the day, without drinking too much coffee as a lot of other people do. Who must have coffee flowing through their veins at all times.
I fall asleep almost immediately most times, but I believe it because I have built and sticking to these "good" habits that works for me. Being pretty comfortable about who I am and where I am at.

When you get into the mindset that you truly could achieve what you are dreaming about and steadily getting better through the hard work, even if it takes time, it is nothing more rewarding.
Everywhere, at the office as well. Just wear the clothes that I like and that I’d normally wear in my free time.
