Just seen it and while the cinematography and atmosphere were enough to keep me intrigue through the long running time, I just don't understand what makes it so "mind blowing" or "life changing". 2 films it reminded me of are Annihlation story wise and Come and See cinematography wise. Both of which I love

We got lives in this section bro. This ain't Life or Music.

for me i like melancholic moods already. Staring into Stalker basically amplified that feeling that all the characters were going through. It's very mood dependent the viewer. With how sparse everything is you get a feeling of how each character, and the zone interacts, pushes and pulls etc. It's a quiet film for a quiet mind

also tbh out of Stalker the movie, STALKER the video game series and Roadside Picnic book, it's probably the least favourite of mine but still amazing.

    How's roadside picnic?

It's great and is the favourite of the three I mentioned. It's a straight up s*** world full of misery and the zone really is made out to be a place where an alien life simply stopped by and f***ed off, leaving behind artifacts in the zone.

The products of the zone are much more weird in the book but again, it's not an entity you can really understand. It produces warped horrors and misery which people use in pursuit of greed and desperation.

IDK, it's something you read when you're in the mood to be depressed and wanna delve deeper

    Sounds interesting tbh

It's a short story but because it's translated from Russian it's not very straightforward IMO, it's very easy to miss a lot of smaller details which make the world. Would recommend.

Stalker is an interesting film about the setting itself. What’s so mysterious about The Zone? Why the trio of characters decided to take a trip into the Zone? The film takes the meticulous pacing while meditating on Tarkovsky’s Christian themes. Although the fear of unknown is present that gives the film a dream-like state.

The idea that it’s not even a monkeys paw situation where you have to be careful what you wish for, but that the zone reveals your deepest desires to even you. It’s scary that the thing you want the most can also reveal everything good or evil about who you are, even in real life

worth more watches imo, lots of super weird details you can easily miss, and easier to follow when you know what you’re getting into
