"No matter where you come from as long as you are a U.S. citizen we will welcome you as an American."

It's a common trope to "go back where you came from" if you criticize or have a problem with the United States government or don't agree with current policies. While I can agree that it tends to be used more by the racist side of America who only dismisses the legitimacy of anybody that isn't a white American, it's not something exclusive to racists.

Furthermore, a lot of people are citizens and some people do not look at them as American. They see them as where they came from. Spanish friends are not seen as American despite the fact they were born in America, they are seen as Mexican (when they're not even Mexican) or reduced to being an immigrant, which people think is a lesser tier/class in society.

It's a painful but true story that happens to many people: not everyone is accepted as an American.

As for the flag, it's aight. personally think the state flags look way better than the country flag

You’re 100% right, but that’s also such a small portion of US citizens. I wish it weren’t a problem, believe me. I will say this though, it is sooo much easier to fit in the US and be seen as an American in comparison to any other country, which I think was his point. The US welcomes people of all colors, races, ethnicities, etc. Let’s just say if you became a Chinese citizen, for example, and you perfected the language, culture, and things of that nature, you will NEVER be seen as Chinese.

    Let’s see....

Guns. Guns are cool as f*** and fun to use. You can have as many as you want under Federal Law as long as they’re not machine guns

We have the best Military to ever exist in human history. Nobody wants to f*** with us. Not even Russia.

We have beautiful women from all over the world.

We have food from all over the world.

We’re one of the richest countries in the world.

No matter where you come from as long as you are a U.S. citizen we will welcome you as an American.

Our flag is cool as f***. Everything about us is cool as f***. We’re known around the world for being cool as f***.

Free Speech. You can pretty much say whatever the f*** you want. As long as it’s not an actual terroristic threat you’re golden.

There’s a million more reasons but those are just the ones I thought of.

I think as US citizens we really take it for granted how lucky we are. I’ve been all around the world and have seen how life is outside the US. People always tell me I’m so lucky to live in the US and literally cry that they aren’t US citizens. I’m not gonna portray the US as some utopia, I think we all know the US is FAR from perfect. Everywhere you go there will be imperfections. Although we’re imperfect, we really have it good. I’m forever grateful to be American born.

oh it’s still a top 10 country but the problem is that there’s countries ahead of it. the US is supposed to be the best, and the shining poster child of the world. been completely f***in up lately and showing their ass.

but I agree, fortunate to grow up here and not somewhere oppressive. Tryna get my money up to leave eventually.

Propaganda ITT. I love where I live, but there's other places where you can speak freely and enjoy nature lmao. In our case guns aren't a bonus. It's fun to have but we shouldn't be bragging about it considering we have the highest rate mass shootings. It took the pandemic to curb the numbers. America cool tho but come on.

    Nope

Mass shootings are a drop in the bucket compared to homicide and suicide deaths by firearms

The best thing about America is fast cars are cheap, big engine cars are cheap, and modifying cars is cheap and legal.

I was born and raised in the US but have lived abroad since graduating college. those are the three things I miss the most besides my family. Americans especially take for granted how easy it is for them to get quality products at affordable prices and how they (most of them at least) never have to worry about violent crime or war
