Is it to prevent offending people of other faiths? To be honest in the U.K. I never hear people saying happy holidays I thought that was an Americanism.
you answered your own question
or did you just want a hit thread?
No I’m genuinely intrigued. As it isn’t a thing here we just wouldn’t say merry Christmas to someone if there was an inclination the individual wouldn’t celebrate it.

what are you trying to figure out? why people who aren’t christian don’t say merry christmas?

No that’s understandable and any sane person wouldn’t expect them to. What I was wondering is if people simply prefer to say that regardless of faith etc? And also why some people take issue with the fact people don’t want to say merry Christmas due to faith reasons, and on top of that go out of their way to say it to try and offend people, like I saw on Twitter before (I know that is an echo chamber for nonsense but it got me thinking).

people just say what they wanna say
many major religions celebrate holy days at this time of year, and many people get off time from work as well
you can’t just assume people are christians, so wishing them happy holidays is the easiest thing to do
i say happy holidays if i’m saying it to someone i don’t know. just because i know generally people prefer that
however, honestly i don’t give a f*** lol. if if someone said “happy hannukkah” to me i’d say it back even though i don’t celebrate that. same with kwanzaa or any other holiday around this time
i don’t know why people get so bent out of shape about it
Niggas just wanna be mad at something
It's just culture war to keep Christians engaged
Found a religion on persecution and they'll find some
this s*** is really straightforward imo
what a boring idea for a thread...
anyway:
Capitalism vs. Socialism lets go

I never say happy holidays. I always take an educated guess and give them a “merry Christmas” “happy Hanukkah” or “happy Kwanzaa”
I’m batting at least .750
i dont think its offending anyone to say merry christmas if their a different faith, its a saying meant in good spirits if it upsets someone they a b****.
and to add im not from america ive never heard a single person say happy holidays
