I’ve met a couple Freemasons before, basically just a frat focused on philanthropy. Pretty underwhelming.

I've noticed a lot of the people from my HS who never applied themselves and learned to think critically now latch onto these ridiculous conspiracy theories.

Its like they didn't put the effort in to be smart in any traditional sense, so now they overcompensate with 'alternative intelligence' so they don't have to walk around feeling like dumbasses.

Yup. I have an uncle who's a free mason in another country and even have lived near one of the freemason buildings before. There's nothing shady going on there. It's literally a social club for old men who sometimes do philanthropy like you said. Sometimes they wear funny hats like the Shriners.

So as a coping mechanic it's easy to blame a boogeyman or a shadow group like jews or gays
