footwork legend jana rush bought the most experimental stuff this year
claire rousay was also incredible
tisakorean provided best raps of the year that matched prime lil b
neph, makonnen, b provided stuff u could say is experimental also but hip hop is forever experimental, tisa is just choice pick
2021 was nice because artists returned to the past but spun incredible takes on it, jana n tisa just took it next level. summer walker was close amongst so many others but was still mining the past
ugly mane has lots to talk about in that he led the glorification of real life strife and pillaging of a decade of trauma rap through his lil memphis rap project, but im glad he's realised he had to pivot to heinous psych pop to keep his thing going. i applauded that self-actualisation until i listened and then realised he was really just going for the next generation of sonemic writers
Injury Reserve deserves a shout out. Pink Siifu too and finally PinkPantheress
PinkPantheress isn't experimental she took a stronghold on straightforward pop through her own strength

i was assuming op was just looking for stuff outside the rap bubble ktt lives in, so it would be experimental or outside their comfort zone to them.

How to Moonwalk is a bunch of fried solo guitar stuff. Emily Robb plays guitar and sings in this other band I like, Astute Palate. If you like the Velvet Underground I’d give them a shot, too:
