KRS’ 8 album run that spans the whole most important decade of hip hop from 87 to 97 is not talked about enough. Unlike his 80s peers, he was able to sustain through the 90s still making classics and hits consistently. he’s the only MC who really was able to be relevant for the entirety of the golden era.
Y’all have a favorite? don’t sleep on any of these
Criminal Minded (1987)
By All Means Necessary (1988)
Ghetto Music: The Blueprint (1989)
Edutainment (1990)
S***And Violence (1992)
Return of The Boom Bap (1993)
KRS One (1995)
I Got Next (1997)
Return of the Boom Bap is insane as are the first three BDP albums and the self-titled
The others are great too but those were immense
I f*** with the S***& Violence cover, I don’t think I ever heard that one before. I guess I default to Return of the Boom Bap

Self titled goes so hard, his delivery on those 90s projects is insane for real
Edutainment hit me very hard as a conceptual listen even though you kind of have to be in the mood for it I think
I f*** with the S***& Violence cover, I don’t think I ever heard that one before. I guess I default to Return of the Boom Bap
Word Boom Bap is dope, self titled is right there with it too
return of the boom bap
either return of the boom bap or criminal minded. like @sentient_sherm_bag said tho the cover for s***and violence is f***ing dope
As an album def Return but all albums have insane joints
Even on his latest album He was spitting hard
I have to say I Got Next has to be among my favs from him. He was on one with that album🔥🔥🔥(A Friend, Can't Stop Won't Stop, Heartbeat, The MC, etc). Eduitainment is another fav from mine.
He dropped an album years ago that was very good, Between Da Protests(2020). Ya'll should check that out.
Copping S***and Violence vinyl for decoration
then you can spin 13 and Good whens guests come over

That longevity had a lot to do with embracing newer artists and producers(DJ Premier, Buckwild, Channel Live, Mad Lion, etc.) at the time. That helped him last compared to his contemporaries aside from LL Cool J and to an extent Kool G Rap.
On the side note, he also had the Dancehall influence in his music which helped him last imo. I just wish he collabed with the genre in the early 2000s with guys like Sean Paul and Elephant Man. Definitely would have helped him considering he played a massive role in the fusion of Hip Hop and Dancehall.

Very good point. That would’ve been insane if he was able to make that transition into the 2000s
Much respect to g rap and LL for their longevity too, I probably could’ve worded op better with respect to LL in particular, he was still a major factor in the game through the 90s even if he went a bit too pop.
Out of LL, G Rap and KRS, KRS just seems to have the perfect balance of catalog and relevance during that period, it’s really impressive to me.
