Once you get deeper in the Drake / Kanye beef you realize that Kanye dropped Lift Yourself cause Drake cut him off Summer Sixteen

Nah, I’m just saying considering Carti and Uzi were close it woulda been inevitable for their crews to link up. S*** woulda been insane, they coulda really kept pushing the sound forward sooner

WOD wasn’t part of Uzi’s crew

They worked once in 2014 because Uzi went to High School w Oogie Mane but they didn’t work after that until well into 2018

Speaking of Drake I’d love to be dropped in a timeline where Meek never spoke up, so we never knew Drake had writers + Push beef just dissolved

What would happen if we found irrevocable proof that Shakespeare did not exist and was a coalition of authors using one pseudonym. Would this change how we discuss literature. Would he still be taught as a singular figure at schools

Don't think it matters. His/their (plural, not enby) oeuvre is what makes him/them so important, and that collection of plays would exist and is cemented in English language and culture whoever wrote them. For the record, I believe the orthodox narrative of Shakespeare's life and the authorship of his plays is basically right

I genuinely wonder if the latter has influenced the former here

Have you researched it and come to the conclusion that it’s true therefore it doesn’t matter if it’s false or are those two independent points? Do you know what I mean

I haven't researched it that deeply honestly, so maybe I'm missing some blockbuster piece of evidence, but to me it seems like Shakespeare truthers are hunting for controversy. And if I understand you right, I think those are two independent points - even if I was a Marlovian or whatever, I would still say the actual material is what matters far more than who wrote it, and maybe I could launch a crusade to give Marlowe credit, but Shakespare is so entrenched I think it wouldn't gain any traction. And my belief that Marlowe wrote them wouldn't affect my assessment of them as art or in the culture - I guess I fundamentally don't view the authorship question as tremendously important.

I got no doubts that they all worked together in between that time, just their beats just weren’t being picked since “Uzi records a lot.” Plus, I bet Asaad was definitely giving Uzi WOD references

This is a very interesting point and I somewhat agree, but I think the distance between us and Shakespeare is a barrier here

If we found out that MJ didn’t write or sing or act or dance alone and was an iteration of many famous artists carefully dawning the guise of “Michael Jackson” we would doubt our senses. This is a silly example but it’s because MJ is nearer to us - we have so much recorded history of him

That’s what the hunt for “Shakespeare” is IMO

That to me is a lot more interesting than the Marlowe theory; or the theft and plagiarism. The Group Theory of Authorship - Francis Bacon, Edward de Vere, Roger Manners, and Mary Sidney Herbert working as one to create a fictions human (living literature) - would genuinely change how Shakespeare is taught at Undergraduate level, I think

What is my musical Roman Empire? Honestly, probably this mix of pre-Genocide Cambodian Rock:

I discovered it probably 5-6 years ago and have been listening with some regularity ever since, despite not speaking a word of Khmer. There are a number of Cambodian rock, and Southeast Asian rock mixes, but I find it to be best in class (not that the others are bad!). I think this album piqued my interest in Southeast Asian culture and history, and to some extent in "localized Western pop" music from around the world, although I still think it is the best (the only thing that comes close is some memories I have of Indian music... but when I try to find it, I find nothing, it slips through my fingers like grains of sand... all I have is visions of trucks with massive sound systems, trundling through the crowded streets of the nagar, blaring an overpowering mix of synthetic drums and bass with Subcontinental melodies... hypnotic and life-affirming... what is the genre called?)

It’s funny cause I think Ye just thought Drake and Sean were corny but it was one of those things were he couldn’t deny their talents. But he was probably fuming seeing Drake be so successful.

It’s probably why he favors Kendrick and Tyler so much

So out of curiosity: where do you stand on the Group Theory - believer, think it needs to be investigated more? In what sort of ways do you think it might change the teaching of Shakespeare? Also, what are the presumed reasons why they might have created Shakespeare?
